The BHS has been working hard to try and persuade Hampshire County Council to provide equestrian access on the path/cycle way alongside the new Botley Relief Road.
Despite lobbying extremely hard and attending the Regulatory Meeting when planning permission was being discussed, HCC has decided against horse riders being able to use the new path/cycleway as they do not judge there will be a demand for this facility. Whilst we are disappointed with this decision, horse corals will be created on either side of Woodhouse Lane where the bridleway crosses the road.
Also, provision is being made should a controlled crossing be required in the future as well as provision for the proposed bridleway from Botley to Bishops Waltham which volunteers have been working towards for a number of years. Horse riders should be aware of the forthcoming planning applications for the Uplands Estate and Woodhouse Lane development. It is being proposed to divert the bridleway on to the existing cycleway.

Please Note: The BHS does not have an access and bridleways officer covering this area.
