The British Horse Society welcomes the Welsh Government proposals which when implemented has the potential to significantly increase riding opportunities across Wales, providing access for horse riders to suitable footpaths, and access for horse riders to access land, beaches and the coast.
The Society is keen to work with the Welsh Government to develop practical solutions to implement these proposals for the benefit of equestrians, and the promotion of responsible behaviour by all users in the countryside.
Having lobbied strongly against the proposal, the Society is concerned that the proposal to allow organised cycle events on bridleways is being promoted. The Society will work hard to ensure that horse riders are not disadvantaged if this proposal is taken forward, and the safety of all users is ensured.
