A peaceful, family yard nestling at the foot of Brent Knoll, in beautiful Somerset countryside yet with easy access- just two minutes from Junction 22 of the M5. We are the perfect stop over for nearby competition venues, including Badgworth Arena, Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre and Millfield School. Alternatively, why not stay a little longer and explore our country lanes, bridleways and 7 miles of sandy beach, all accessible on horseback from the yard. A short drive away are the Mendip and Quantock Hills, both are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
For the Horses
Ample, all year round grazing is provided in individual post and rail paddocks or electric fenced paddocks as required. Fully lit, timber stables are available in an enclosed concrete yard serviced with electric and water. Guests have access to a secure tack and feed room. A large undercover area provides the ideal space for show preparation. Parking is available for horseboxes and trailers.
We currently have electric hook ups so that guests may stay, adjacent to their horse, in a caravan, campervan or horsebox. Accommodation options also include both AA 2* and 3* rated hotel/ B&B properties within 400m of our premises. The village of Brent Knoll itself has two country pubs, both serving excellent food and both within a 15 minute walk. The village shop/post office is a 3 minute walk away. Burnham-On-Sea, the local town has a good selection of shops and restaurants.
Riding form the yard on quiet country roads and bridleways will take you, via several routes, to the seven miles of sandy beaches between Burnham-On–Sea and Brean Down. Alternatively there are circular routes away from the coastline or you could hack to a local all-weather arena and cross country facility. A local riding instructor can be arranged if requested. A short drive and you will be spoiled for choice as we are surrounded by magnificent scenery. The Qauntock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offers beautiful and picturesque areas with most rides involving little or no roadwork. This area offers some of the most stunning horse riding in Somerset! The Mendip Hills, another Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the famous Cheddar Gorge, are just a 15 minute drive in the other direction. Park up, take a picnic and enjoy exploring new countryside or stop and tie up at a traditional, horse friendly, pub for lunch. We are always happy to recommend routes.
