Due to the great success and feedback from our Platinum Celebration Dressage Championship last year, BHS North West will be once again running our Dressage Championship with five local area qualifiers.
Classes are divided for both Seniors and Juniors and tests include Intro B, Prelim 1 and Novice 28 for the qualifiers, a different set of tests will be used for the Championship.
Qualifiers are open to all, the top 6 from each class will be eligible to enter the Championship provided they are a BHS Gold member or BRC member. Competitions will run under BRC Rules, for more information please consult the BRC Handbook.
- Juniors – All riders in junior competitions must be under 18 on 1 January in the current year.
- Seniors – All riders in senior competitions must be 18 or over on 1 January in the current year.
- BD Affiliated competitors – for rules regarding BD Affiliated competitors please see page 91 of the BRC Handbook for horse and rider eligibility.
Terms & Conditions
Please report to the organisers on arrival and follow the instructions of the Officials or stewards during your time at the competition All riders are responsible for ensuring the safety of themselves and others.
All riders must have previous experience of riding the horse they have entered into the event.
This competition will be ran in accordance with BRC rules, for future information please consult the BRC handbook
Hats to the current standard must be worn and correctly secured at all times when mounted. Please check yours meets current standards www.bhs.org.uk/headwear.
Body protectors are recommended and should comply with current standards www.bhs.org.uk/bodyprotectors.
All horses must be over the age of five years and of appropriate fitness level for the activity being undertaken - any horses who are not sound or fit enough for the activity undertaken will be retired from the activity by decision of the officials and will it be eligible for a refund.
Tack must be in safe condition and fit correctly - this is your responsibility to ensure before attending.
Don’t forget it is a legal requirement to have your horses’ passport when travelling to events.
Please ensure all passports and vaccinations against equine influenza are up to date before attending. For further guidance please refer to the BRC handbook, further guidance can be found on page 19 of the BRC handbook.
You are responsible for any damage created by your horse to any facilities whilst on site and will therefore be liable for the cost of replacing/repairing.
The aim of this competition is to promote the improvement of riding, training of ponies/ horses and horsemanship in a safe and enjoyable environment. Welfare of horses and everyone’s health and safety is of paramount importance. If any concerns are noted, please understand that this may prohibit an individual’s opportunity to participate in some or all of the activities.

Neither the organisers nor the British Horse Society accept responsibility for any accident, injury, loss or illness to horse, rider, spectator or property whilst at this event.

Where consent has been given, photographs may be used by The British Horse Society in printed, online or electronic publications, which may be shared publicly. Examples of these materials include, but are not limited to: posters, leaflets, brochures, adverts, emails, e-newsletters, blogs, web pages, social media posts, presentations, speeches, research or policy reports and press releases or other materials.
- Images will be held in accordance with the relevant Data Protection legislation
- Images of myself captured in the video recordings and/or photographs will be the copyright of The BHS and any other intellectual property which arises in the recordings will also belong to The BHS;
- The BHS may keep & use these images until I tell it to stop using my images at any time, in which case they will not be used in future publications but may continue to appear in publications already in circulation.
