Legacy Day at Hall Place

The BHS welcomed interested participants to a successful Legacy Day on Tuesday 13 July at BHS Approved Centre, Hall Place, Berkshire. The event allowed those interested in leaving the BHS a gift in their Will to find out more about how the BHS works with Approved Centres, and how their gift will make a huge difference to the equestrian community. It also provided an opportunity for enjoyment and connection, with some of those attending confessing they had not ridden in years but had regained the confidence to ride again following the event.

Leaving a legacy raises funds for The Society’s charitable work by those wishing to leave a lasting impact on the work of the BHS. Any gift, big or small, can make a transformative difference to the lives and futures of horses, riders and all of those who care for them, in addition to keeping our British countryside open and safe for all users.

Those attending the Legacy Day at Hall Place Equestrian Centre were able to enjoy a relaxed hack through the peaceful local woods before a lunch spent in the sunshine, followed by a tour of the yard, rounding the day off with a final ice cream and a cup of tea.

One of the Centre’s most popular projects is Changing Lives Through Horses, a scheme organised by the BHS alongside Approved Centres, designed to reach out to disadvantaged young people and transform their lives through the magic of working with horses. The Centre has rehomed three horses rescued by the RPSCA as part of the BHS Second Chance project, allowing the horses to be rehabilitated by professionals and a chance at a happy future, all whilst bringing joy to young people at critical points in their lives.

One Legacy Day participant, Sylvia Spink, told us, “We were looked after so well and it was lovely to ride again after such a long break, thank you to everyone involved for organising such a great day out for us. I will definitely be including the BHS in my will.”

If you would like to be a part of our Legacy Days and learn more about how leaving a gift in your Will can transform the lives of those in the equestrian community and beyond, you can request an invitation to join us at one of our Legacy days in your region. Find out first-hand how your gift can make a difference and get the opportunity to join a riding or stable management lesson, as well as meeting others within your local equestrian community.
