BHS Trustee Election 2021

Become a BHS Trustee

Can you help shape our Society’s future? We’re looking for outstanding individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help us make a positive, lasting difference to the lives of horses.

If you believe in our charity’s vision for every horse to be respected, protected and enjoyed by knowledgeable, caring people, then please consider if you might have the expertise, insight and perspective to help lead and govern us.

The BHS has two additional general trustee positions available for election in 2021. We have identified that an individual with a financial background would complement the skills and experience of our current Board Members, and therefore one of the Generalist positions available is titled ’Generalist with Financial Knowledge’.

Generalist

Together with the Executive Team, you will support The British Horse Society to deliver on its core values; putting the Horse at the heart of all it does across its main areas of endeavour. You will have knowledge and understanding of equestrianism and be familiar with the Society and its activities. You will act as an ambassador for the Society and champion its work across Access, Education, Safety and Welfare.

Generalist with Financial Knowledge

Together with the Executive Team, you will support The British Horse Society to deliver on its core values; putting the Horse at the heart of all it does across its main areas of endeavour. Alongside fellow Finance Committee members (who are also Trustees) you will advise and assist your fellow Trustees with financial governance.

Please take a look at our Selection Policy which includes the Trustee role specification and the full specialist role descriptions, to understand more about the trustee role for The British Horse Society.

The British Horse Society is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for our employees. We believe having a diverse team at all levels allows us to represent the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all communities and as part of our commitment to being an inclusive employer we would particularly welcome applicants of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage. We also particularly welcome applications from disabled people and people from LGBT+ Communities.
