The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals.

The Information Technology team is critical to the successful delivery of the charitable objectives of the British Horse Society by enabling our staff to access reliable systems where they need. As a result, the IT team are beginning to deliver a new IT strategy which requires us to recruit some new skills.

The Software Engineer will lead the technical support and development of the IT strategy for all database, web services, reporting, application support and API working with both internal staff and suppliers.

You will be experienced in and able to provide 3rd line support for all BHS applications, write SQL reports using the full SQL stack, ensure databases are performing efficiently, develop BHS applications using various coding options including SQL, ASP.Net, C#, perform data migrations and data cleanses and support of APIs to BHS website and finance system amongst others. It would be beneficial if the candidate has Microsoft Azure experience.

Due to the nature of this role, some out of usual business hours work will be required.
