Summer is the perfect opportunity to enjoy more time outside with your horse.

It can be really tempting to rug our horses to keep them cosy, especially when we feel cold ourselves, but as horses will naturally grow a thick winter coat, it is important to assess whether rugging is truly necessary.

As winter comes around it is likely that your horse’s needs, and routine will change. In addition to the colder and wetter weather the days are shorter, and the nights are longer.

Hot weather can present challenges to horses, especially if they are competing, are old, overweight, or have an existing health problem.
