About me

Kathryn Howard MSc - Level 4 Coach & Performance Equestrian Professional

Kathryn Howard is a highly qualified, multi-discipline equestrian coach based in Somerset (TA4), offering expert tuition, performance coaching, mentoring, and training for riders and drivers of all ages and abilities. She is fully mobile and travels throughout Somerset and Devon. Kathryn holds a wide range of professional credentials, including the British Equestrian Level 4 Coaching Certificate, one of the highest coaching qualifications in the UK. She is also a British Carriage Driving Level 4 Coach, an APEC Advanced Applied Psychology Performance Equestrian Coach, a Para Equestrian Coach and Para Equestrian Foundation Performance Squad Coach. A Junior Mentor, Para Mentor, and an Assessor.

Kathryn's background allows her to provide comprehensive technical, psychological, and developmental support for riders and drivers across many disciplines. With over three decades in the equestrian world, Kathryn has built her career on classical principles, empathetic horsemanship, and a belief that every horse and human learns best in an environment of clarity, calmness, and respect. Her coaching philosophy centres on achieving harmony between horse and rider or driver. She works to develop confidence, communication, and understanding in both equine and human athletes, tailoring every session to individual needs, goals, and learning styles.

Kathryn coaches riders and drivers from complete beginners to those competing at national level. Her background as a National Open Horse and Pony Competitor informs her ability to support athletes seeking performance gains, technical refinement, or long-term development. Equally, she is known for her patience and skill with riders rebuilding confidence, returning to riding, or navigating challenges.
