Accreditation: Your Assurance with a BHS Accredited Coach

When you choose a BHS Accredited Professional Coach, you're choosing peace of mind. Every coach within our scheme is committed to the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and horse welfare. This means your coach is:

  • Fully Insured: For your complete protection.
  • Expertly Prepared: Current in First Aid and Safeguarding training, ensuring a secure and supportive environment for all.
  • Background-Checked: Holds a relevant criminal record check as per the guidelines set by the UK Nation or country of residence they live in. For example, in England and Wales this is a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check which is renewed every three years.
  • Dedicated to Growth: Committed to annual Continual Professional Development (CPD), keeping their skills and knowledge up to date.
  • Upholding High Standards: Adheres strictly to our Accredited Professional Code of Conduct, prioritising your safety and the wellbeing of your horse above all else.

Qualifications: The expertise behind your coach

When you choose a BHS Accredited Professional Coach, you're benefiting from a depth of knowledge and skill. Our coaching qualifications are unique in their holistic approach, requiring demonstrated competence across all aspects of horsemanship and coaching. They are highly regarded both in the UK and internationally. If your coach holds a BHS ‘Complete’ qualification, this includes:

·         Horse Care and Welfare: Understanding of equine health, management, and wellbeing.

·         Lungeing: Proficiency in developing horses from the ground.

·         Riding Skills: Demonstrated competence across various disciplines.

·         Expert Coaching Techniques: Proven ability to effectively teach and develop riders.

This ensures that every BHS qualified Accredited Coach possesses an all-round knowledge of the horse, always putting their welfare at the heart of your coaching practice.

Minimum standard

To join our scheme, coaches must meet a rigorous minimum standard. This is typically achieved through the BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship qualification, a benchmark for comprehensive equestrian and coaching expertise.

While many of our coaches hold BHS qualifications, we also recognise other industry qualifications. For coaches with non-BHS certifications, we ensure they have provided evidence to verify that their knowledge and practical skills align with our requirements. This commitment to consistent high standards means you can always trust the expertise of your BHS Accredited Coach.

If a coach has qualifications listed on their profile that are not BHS qualifications, please refer to the awarding organisation for more information about the qualification.

Find Your Perfect Coach: Understanding Qualification Levels

Our BHS qualifications are progressive, meaning coaches can continually advance their skills and knowledge through various stages.
