About me
Shelagh has spent a lifetime with horses. Starting out through the Pony Club, she attained her A Test, represented the club in numerous team events, and worked in a variety of establishments across the UK and Australia, gaining a wealth of experience along the way, and working up the BHS levels enroute.
Since becoming freelance and self-employed, Shelagh has continued to expand her knowledge and embrace modern approaches to training and horsemanship. She is passionate about helping both horses and riders achieve their full potential.
Shelagh works closely with other professionals, including vets, physiotherapists, saddle fitters, and bit fitters, believing that a collaborative approach delivers the best results for every horse-and-rider partnership.
Shelagh currently competes her Welsh D Cob in affiliated dressage and has proudly qualified for the National Petplan Championships on several occasions in both straight and freestyle-to-music classes, up to Advanced Medium level.
Although Shelagh does not coach from her own property, she has access to a variety of excellent venues and believes that each offers unique benefits for both horse and rider. She regularly hosts clinics at indoor arenas, as well as training sessions at cross-country and jumping venues.
More recently, Shelagh became a member of the TAP Coach Team (Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme), a role she is extremely excited about, particularly through her Thoroughbred clinics.
Shelagh teaches riders of all ages and abilities — from complete beginners to competition riders and those working towards professional qualifications. This means working with a wide variety of horses, from 10hh to 19hh, in all shapes and sizes — something Shelagh truly relishes. Please feel free to make contact and we can discuss options and make a plan
