About me

I have over 40 years of teaching experience, having started at 18 in a riding school where I gained my BHSAI. I went on to teach at Crabbet Park under Val Lee and spent a short period at Eaglesfield, before returning to my original yard in a senior role. After taking time out to raise a family, I achieved my BHS IT qualification and established my freelance business in 2000.

I have taught Pony Club riders, primarily at Eridge, for over 20 years, alongside a wide range of private clients aged 8 and upwards. I teach all levels, adapting my approach to suit each individual’s confidence, ability, and goals. I have trained riders through to BE Novice level, with current clients competing in dressage at Advanced Medium. However, I am equally passionate about building confidence at any stage.

I have competed as an amateur, riding up to BE 2* and currently working at Advanced dressage, aiming for PSG. I have a particular interest in working with horses that lack confidence or have physical challenges, helping them become stronger, healthier, and more trusting.

My teaching focuses on developing both horse and rider—building confident, balanced partnerships through clear communication, an understanding of training principles, and realistic goal setting. I enjoy explaining the theory behind the work and encouraging riders to better understand their horse.

Having largely developed my skills through observation, study, and experience, I bring a thoughtful and sometimes different perspective to my coaching. I value clients who are interested in long-term development and the bigger picture.

I offer support beyond lessons, including video feedback, advice on management, and competition support where possible. I am committed to high standards of horse welfare and will always advise where I see areas for improvement.

Based in Crowborough, I typically travel within 30 minutes. Lessons are £45 for 45–60 minutes. My aim is to develop strong, confident horses and knowledgeable, capable riders—creating partnerships that can progress and enjoy the sport for years to come.
