About me

I have been a BHS Freelance Coach for over 35 years. I was awarded the BHS Oxfordshire ‘Coach of the Year’ 2025.  I am a Centre 10 Advanced Coach and was awarded the Centre 10 ‘Coach of the Year’ in 2019.

My experience is wide and far reaching, covering most disciplines, I am foremost a Dressage Trainer and Rider with a competition background in several disciplines - mainly Dressage but also Showing to HOYS Level and Show Jumping to Foxhunter.  I have trained and competed my own horses to Small Tour Level.

My clients range from Grassroots competitors - Pony Club and Riding Club, to PSG/Int 1 Dressage and all levels in between and all ages.  My youngest client is currently 10 and my oldest is 75!

I specialise in Dressage Training, developing young horses,  RoR’s and progressing horses of all types up the levels from Prelim. I also teach Eventers and Show jumpers of all levels.

Test riding and Arena craft is also covered for those riders wanting to compete.

My strength as a Coach is being adaptable to all types of horses and riders. No two riders and horses are the same so no lessons are exactly the same.  Each combination is an individual with their own needs and goals.

I offer support and advice via messages, outside lesson time.

The pleasure and satisfaction I get from Coaching is seeing both horses and riders improve over a period of time. I like to form a long term relationship with my clients. I have clients who have been with me many years and some, who I taught as teenagers, now returning as adults.

My philosophy is the comfort and well being of the horse as priority.  To train the horse ethically, and to teach my clients to observe and ‘read’ their horses.

My lesson fees start at £50 for 45 mins, rising to £60 depending on distance and time travelled. I can also teach from my base at OX44, including Arena Hire a session is £60.  This can be either indoor or outdoor .

I am also available for clinics. The distance I will travel is subject to the number of lessons required so a discussion is always worthwhile.
