About me

Hi, I’m Oliver. I’m a BHS Accredited Professional Coach, Stage 4 Senior Yard Manager, Stage 5 Business Manager and British Dressage List 5 Judge with nearly 20 years’ experience working in the UK and overseas.

I’ve managed busy yards, coached riders of all ages and levels, delivered BHS Challenge Awards and supported combinations out competing. I’ve also been involved in organising dressage competitions and helping grow the sport during my time abroad. Along the way I’ve trained with some very experienced international coaches, which has shaped how I now approach my own teaching.

My coaching style is simple and systematic. I don’t like to overcomplicate things or use lots of fancy terminology. I believe in sticking to correct basics, following the Scales of Training and breaking things down into steps that make sense. When riders understand what they’re doing and why, everything becomes clearer and usually a lot more enjoyable too. Being a listed judge means I can also help riders understand what’s actually being looked for in the arena and how to improve their marks without overthinking it.

I really enjoy working with competitive riders, young riders, supporting nervous riders, and helping people build confidence at their own pace. Whether it’s a one-to-one session, a clinic, group lesson or judging, stable management, my aim is always the same correct training, good horsemanship and making sure both horse and rider enjoy the process.
