Maria-Lucy Neason

I'm Maria-Lucy Neason, founder of True North Equine Coaching. With over three decades of hands-on experience in the equestrian world, I bring a compassionate, evidence-based approach to horse-human relationships. I hold a Master’s degree in Equine Studies and have worked in riding schools, colleges (15 years) , and private yards.

Over time, I became disillusioned with traditional training methods and was drawn to more ethical, evidence based approaches. As a certified Connection Training Coach, my work is grounded in affective neuroscience, focusing on positive reinforcement training and aiding positive emotional regulation.

I specialise in coaching clients who want to deepen their bond with their horse, whether for personal growth, behavioural modification or development of the equine athlete using kind, progressive methods to build confidence, curiosity, and resilience-laying the foundation for a positive lifelong partnership.

I love watching my clients grow in confidence, feeling empowered to try things out without fear or judgement. I offer one-to-one in-person coaching as well as online support through video reviews and Zoom calls. All sessions are tailored to meet you and your horse where you are—helping you move forward with clarity, connection, and compassion.
