Lauren Hughes

About me

I am a British Horse Society accredited professional equestrian coach and worked at a wide number of equestrian centres with riders of all ages and abilities. These jobs involved training staff for BHS exams, overseeing Horse Owner courses and organising Pony Club and riding club activities. 

I have a special interest in natural horsemanship having been lucky enough to work closely with some highly regarded natural horsemanship trainers during my career. Owning and loaning horses from a young age, I have also competed in a wide range of equestrian disciplines. I have also recently completed a BSc degree in Educational Psychology with first class honours and am passionate about helping young people to develop their emotional and social skills from time spent on and around horses.

I currently work in a special school where I have designed an equine based curriculum which both educates young people with a wide range of SEN on all things horsey, but also builds their confidence with key functional skills in maths and English. All through the power of a shared passion for horses. This has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling roles of my coaching career.
