About Me
I started my equestrian career as a Bloodstock Shipping Agent for the BBA in Newmarket where I was immersed in the TB industry and then moved to Scotland to take up the position of events organiser at the Gleneagles Mark Phillips Equestrian Center, organising competitions in all the disciplines as well as numerous clinics including Carl Hester's first ever lecture/demo and the only Scottish clinic given by Monty Roberts. I subsequently moved to the U.S. for 29 years and gained the U.S. Eventing Association Level III instructor qualification. I was initially co-director of the Millbrook Equestrian Center in upstate NY and then owner/manager of BHS Approved Cedar Crest Farm Equestrian Center which was renowned as an international training facility.
I am now lucky to be based out of Elder Park Farm in Dolton, North Devon but I'm also more than willing to travel.
Thanks to my long international career in the horse industry I have been uniquely fortunate in being able to train with some of the greatest riders in the world, including among many others, the dressage maestros Nuno Oliveira and John Hall FBHS; eventers Mark Phillips, Boyd Martin, Eric Horgan BHSI and Ian Stark, and show-jumpers Paul Darragh, John Ledingham and Ernest Dillon FBHS.
I love to share all that I have learned with riders of all ages and abilities and have the ideas and solutions to bring out the best in all horse and rider combinations, using innovative exercises based around the classical directives. I have the skills and personal experience to coach competition riders in the three major disciplines but equally enjoy teaching beginners, children and "riders of a certain age" who need to regain their confidence.
I also enjoy schooling horses and ponies, helping them to balance themselves and thereby making them easier and more enjoyable rides for their owners.
