About Me

Fred Hodges is a British Eventing Level 4 coach and BHSI (Level 5 Performance Coach) with extensive experience developing riders and horses across all levels of eventing. He combines a strong technical foundation with a rider-centred approach, supporting athletes to build confidence, independence, and long-term performance.

Fred has worked with grassroots riders through to advanced competitors, with a particular interest in developing effective training systems and positive coaching environments. Alongside his practical coaching, Fred is a senior BHS assessor undertaking postgraduate study in coaching, with a focus on athlete voice, welfare, and the application of children’s rights within sport. His coaching philosophy emphasises clarity, empathy, and evidence-informed practice, helping riders to understand both the “how” and the “why” behind their training.
