I’m Crissie Messina, a BHS Accredited Professional Coach and Trail Leader offering relationship-based coaching across East and Central Scotland, including Edinburgh, Lothians, Fife, and the Borders. My approach prioritises connection and clear communication between horse and rider, creating a safe and positive learning environment for all levels.

With over 15 years of hands-on experience in riding, horse care, and training, I’ve worked in both show jumping and dressage environments, particularly with young horses. My coaching style is influenced by classical riding principles and thoughtful horsemanship, with elements of groundwork and liberty techniques to support better communication and partnership.

I coach adults and children, and specialise in helping nervous riders or those rebuilding confidence, as well as supporting riders interested in groundwork, ethical horse handling, and balanced riding.

I do not have horses available for lessons, but I travel to clients and tailor each session to support individual goals, whether that’s improving your partnership with your horse, preparing for a fun ride or simply growing your skills in a supportive space.

My aim is to help riders feel heard, supported, and empowered, creating a space where learning is kind, respectful, and rewarding for both horse and human.
