Teaching someone to ride safely on the road and in other environments is one of the most important lessons you can deliver.
This training day is for coaches who would like to start delivering the BHS Ride Safe Award or for existing Ride Safe Trainers who need to update.
The day will provide clear guidance on the Award to help ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for riders across all sessions.
As part of the training, BHS Ride Safe Trainer and Advisor, Jo Rawlins, will also cover how to deliver the new 1-hour basic road safety training session that will be rolled out with BHS support across the South West this year. This session is designed to be accessible, welcoming and informative, supporting taster sessions and helping the BHS continue to be seen as the go-to organisation for advice and education around riding safely on the road.
The training will focus on:
- Current Ride Safe guidance and expectations
- Key updates coaches need to be aware of
- Standardising delivery to ensure clear, consistent messaging
- Making Ride Safe sessions approachable and engaging for the wider equestrian community
- Practical tips for confidently delivering both the Ride Safe Challenge Award and the 1-hour basic road safety training.
This is an excellent opportunity to refresh your knowledge, build confidence in your delivery, and play a key role in improving rider education and safety.
Please note:
** Ride Safe Trainer training must be updated every 3 years.
** This day will count as 4 CPD points
