Whether you're a horse owner, coach, equine professional or working towards your Stage 4 and Stable Manager assessments, this engaging training day will deepen your understanding of hoof care, farriery and equine performance.
Farriery is about much more than feet and shoes. Throughout the day, we'll explore the horse's foot within the wider context of health, soundness and performance, looking at what "performance" means for different horses and owners, and how decisions made from the hoof up can influence outcomes.
The day begins with an interactive theory session in the local village hall, where we'll discuss key principles of hoof care and shoeing. We'll then move to the forge (full directions will be provided to ticket holders before the event) to see theory brought to life as the team demonstrates practical shoeing techniques and discusses real-world case examples.
Numbers are limited to create an informal learning environment with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share experiences and take part in discussion.

Master Farrier Ben Benson AWCF is an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, a Master Farrier and Approved Training Farrier. With more than 23 years of industry experience and having shod horses at four Olympic Games, Ben is recognised as one of the profession's leading experts. Throughout the day, he'll share practical knowledge, industry insights and lessons learned from working at the highest level of international sport.
