Join us for a welcoming, interactive and thought-provoking day exploring women's health and wellbeing in equestrianism, with a particular focus on perimenopause, menopause and the impact they can have on participation, performance and confidence.
Whether you're a coach, equestrian professional or simply passionate about supporting women in the sport, this event will provide practical insights, evidence-based learning and valuable opportunities for discussion and reflection.
Led by experienced professionals Louise Towl, Kathryn Howard and Nicky Gibbard, the day will combine current research, physical health expertise, emotional wellbeing and coaching practice to help delegates better understand the challenges women may face during this stage of life, and how the equestrian community can provide meaningful support.
Drawing on Kathryn Howard's MSc research into the experiences of peri- and menopausal equestrians, we'll explore the physical, emotional and psychological symptoms women experience and the significant impact they can have on confidence, participation and performance. The findings also highlight what women want from their coaches and the wider equestrian industry to help them remain active, engaged and successful in the sport they love.
Through practical activities, discussion and interactive workshops, delegates will be encouraged to reflect on their own coaching practice, considering questions such as:
How does my coaching approach influence those I work with?
What challenges might a rider be experiencing that I cannot see?
What do I already do well as a coach?
How could I adapt or develop my approach?
How can I add greater value and support to my coaching relationships?
