Blacksmithing at High Peak Junction: Make Your Own Handcrafted Keepsake
£26 including booking fee.
Spend a day at the forge and discover the skills that have supported horses and working life for generations.
Join us at the historic High Peak Junction Workshop, where you'll work alongside an experienced blacksmith using the original forge and hand-pumped bellows dating from the 1830s. During the session, you'll make your own metal item to take home while learning traditional techniques that remain at the heart of blacksmithing today.
High Peak Junction sits where the Cromford Canal meets the High Peak Trail and was once a busy centre of industry and transport. As you work at the forge, picture the horses that travelled the canal towpaths and railway routes, relying on the skills of local smiths to keep them working.
Set within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, this experience takes you beyond the public viewing areas and into the historic working forge itself.
