COACHING AND ACTIVITIES There are goody bags on arrival for horse and rider! You'll participate in flat, SJ and XC lessons (with options for non-jumpers) across the three days. Our lead coach is Charlie Samuel-Camps, a BHS Senior Eventing Coach (Stage 4), and, depending on numbers, we will bring in another highly experienced coach to work alongside. Our coaches are always awesome at working with riders and horses of all levels of experience, and are fantastic at building confidence. We'll take plenty of photos of everyone during lessons, and you'll be sent a WeTransfer link to download your hi-res images after the event. There's private hacking on-site, with woodlands and farmland around which to stretch your horse's legs and have a natter with campmates. We'll have an optional fun mounted games competition (specially adapted so you don't need to get off your horse) on the Friday evening. During the weekend, you can also get your horse weighed, learn to fat score and get free and impartial weight management advice.
FACILITIES Wheatlands has excellent facilities, starting with the brand new Clubhouse - it's kitchen, dining area, toilets and showers were newly opened last year, providing somewhere warm, dry and comfortable to chill between rides and in the evenings. Lorries and trailers can park on hardstanding, and there's a field for tents. For the horses, there are lovely stables with rubber matting throughout. Stables will be empty on arrival, and must be left empty at the end of the camp. Two bales of bedding will be provided, and more can be purchased if needed. Hay and feed must be brought with you.
CATERING We have a local caterer to provide a hearty dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Lunches each day will consist of sandwich platters, crisps and fruit, and after riding each day there will be a slice of cake and a cuppa waiting for you. Basic breakfasts are also included, with cereals and toast on offer, and you are welcome to use the kitchen facilities should you want to do more. You'll be able to help yourself to tea, coffee and squash at any time, and there will be fridge space for any other cold drinks you may choose to bring (alcohol is BYOB). Allergies and special dietary requirements can be catered for.
COST Each camp costs £345 per horse and rider combination. A deposit of £100 is payable on booking (you'll be sent a link to online payment when your booking form is received - please note your place is not confirmed until your deposit payment has been received). The balance of £245 is payable 6 weeks before the start of your camp, by 16/04/2026. There is also the option to pay in instalments - £100 deposit upon booking, £100 by 13/03/2026 and the final instalment of £145 by 16/04/2026 if spreading the cost helps you.
Sharers are welcome to bring their horse and divide the riding between them, please contact us for individual pricing. Non-riding campers (moral support crew!) are welcome to stay with you at a cost of £60, to cover meals and refreshments. Non-riders must be at least 16 years of age.
REFUNDS We operate a sliding scale for refunds - we know horses and feel your pain when things go wrong, but we are a charity and have to cover the event costs. Deposit - non-refundable, but in the event of horse or rider injury/sickness may be transferred to a future camp or day camp up until 6 weeks before camp (16/04/2026) on receipt of a vet/doctor's note. Balance - will be refunded up until 2 weeks before camp (15/05/2026) providing your space can be filled, but not if it cannot. After this date, no refunds can be given.
RIDERS Campers can be of any standard, providing they are at least able to walk, trot and canter their horse or pony safely in an arena and in company. It is absolutely fine to be nervous though! Riders must be at least 16 years of age. Under 18s must be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian of at least 18. Camp is open to members of the BHS and non-members - non-members (and BHS Silver members) must provide proof of public liability insurance.
