Our affiliated Equestrian Access Groups help to uphold our values and promote equestrian access at a local level, monitoring local equestrian rights of way and working alongside local authorities and other groups to benefit horse riders and carriage drivers. They are a fun, sociable way of getting groups of equestrians together.
In return we actively support our BHS affiliates in helping them achieve their aims through training, free advice, fundraising support, representation and promotion.
Benefits of affiliation
We offer two affiliation packages - basic and premium. All groups receive the benefits included in basic affiliation. Premium affiliation has the added benefit of public liability insurance and employers liability insurance.

- Resources and templates, including risk assessments, safeguarding policy templates, GDPR, event planning guides and more
- Affiliated groups can apply for grants from our Ride Out Fund.
- 50% discount on all BHS equestrian access and rights of way training

Premium affiliation includes all the basic benefits, plus £30,000,000 Public Liability Insurance and £10,000,000 Employers Liability Insurance.
Affiliate your group
The current affiliation fee is for 12 months, running from 1 March 2026 - 28 February 2027.
The affiliation fees for this period are:
- Premium affiliation - £154.00*
*Includes Insurance Premium Tax - Basic affiliation - £55.00
Renewals and new affiliations started part way through the affiliation year are calculated pro-rata. Groups on a basic affiliation package can also upgrade at any point in the year. Contact us any time on access@bhs.org.uk to confirm the fee payable.
