Our volunteers are part of an essential team that helps to deliver our charitable objectives and our work simply wouldn’t be possible without them.
The BHS supports more than 1000 volunteers to take positive local action and to champion our work across our core foundations of Welfare, Safety, Access and Education.
Our BHS volunteers
- attend over a thousand new welfare concerns each year
- campaign for the increased safety of riders and horses on our roads
- campaign for access to safe places to ride or carriage drive
- organise local events, shows and fundraise for the benefit of horses and riders in their local area.
*Calls may be recorded for monitoring purposes

Make a difference in your local area to improve the lives of horses and the people who care for them. Whether it’s for a couple of hours, two days a week, or helping at a one-off event, we’re really grateful for our volunteers who take part in positive local action.
