BHS Trustee Election 2022

Become a BHS Trustee

Can you help shape our Society’s future? We’re looking for outstanding individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help us make a positive, lasting difference to the lives of horses.

If you believe in our charity’s vision for every horse to be respected, protected and enjoyed by knowledgeable, caring people, then please consider if you might have the expertise, insight and perspective to help lead and govern us.

The BHS has four Trustee vacancies arising for election in 2022. As our Specialist Trustees for Access and Education are both  coming to the end of their terms, we are seeking nominations for these two specialist roles, as well as nominations for two Generalist vacancies.

Why be a Trustee?

The Board of Trustees plays a significant role in a charity’s strategic direction and management. A well-qualified Board is essential to securing our future success, and although it can sometimes be a demanding role, it can also be rewarding to know you’re making a difference, forming new relationships and experiences, and helping to develop the Society for the benefit of our members and the wider equestrian community.

Our Trustees volunteer their time and experience to the Society through strategic planning, working with the Executive Team, attending and preparing for Board meetings, and ensuring the best possible decisions are made.

To be eligible for election you must be aged 18 years or older and have been a member of the Society for at least three years on Wednesday, 29 June 2022, the date of the Election Board Meeting.

The British Horse Society is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for our employees. We believe having a diverse team at all levels allows us to represent the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all communities and as part of our commitment to being an inclusive organisation we would particularly welcome applications from people of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage, people with disabilities and people from the LGBT+ community.
