Safer Riders, Safer Horses, Safer Drivers was the theme of the BHS Wiltshire event held at the Wadswick Country Store near Corsham on 12 March. The event was led by BHS Director of Safety Alan Hiscox, former Chief Equitation Officer with the Metropolitan Police. Alan was supported by PC Cheryl Knight of the Wiltshire Rural Crime Team who also was on hand to provide free tack stamping.
Alan said “This was an important event for equestrians in the area, and we were lucky to have Wiltshire Police, the local council and cyclists there. The BHS Safety Team is doing significant work to increase the safety of horse riders and carriage drivers on the road with our Dead Slow campaign. It was an opportunity to hear about the work, ask questions and get some important information from the BHS and the police. It is important that riders understand their responsibilities on the road as well as drivers. It is a two way process.”
Alan thanked BHS Wiltshire for organising this event and we would like to extend our thanks to Carolyn Barton and her team at Wadswick for making us all so welcome.
