In the middle of May, solders arrived at Tower Farm Riding Stables to complete a military “Spurs Course” for The Reserve Light Cavalry. Soldiers from Scottish and Northern Ireland Yoemanry, Wessex Yoemanry and The Queens Own Yoemanry all completed their weeks training at Tower Farm Riding Stables with our BHS Accredited Professional Coaches Patrick Print FBHS and Richard Johnston-Smith BHSI. They spent a week at the BHS approved Tower Farm on the outskirts of Edinburgh; where they gained BHS qualification (and BHS Challenge Awards) at the same time benefiting from the wholesome world of horses.
Spurs Courses were designed to quickly get new members of cavalry regiments up to required start state that they could train with the regiment. This course provided riding as a new skill with the added benefit of BHS qualifications to tie the experience down to real life and give a foothold in the Equine Excellence Pathway which can lead to a civilian career in coaching.
