Access Award for Volunteers

1 June 2021

Thanks and congratulations to Access and Bridleways volunteer officer Diana Mallinson, and Project 2026 volunteer Flick Edmeston and for their great contributions towards saving routes before the 1 January 2026 cut-off date.

Diana, a BHS Derbyshire Committee member since 2015, has been commended for her legal knowledge and meticulous research methodology which she has applied to submit and follow through Definitive Map Modification Order applications and support others to do the same. Diana has recently helped applicants to submit Schedule14 Appeals and all three claims have now been accepted as well as having two orders made on her own DMMO claims for bridleway and restricted byway.

Flick, a successful endurance rider and organiser, has had over 40 DMMO (Definitive Map Modification Order) applications accepted and registered by Derbyshire County Council (and many also in Staffordshire). Flick has supported other volunteers with accessing and demystifying historic evidence in the archives, sharing her knowledge and experience.

Diana and Flick were nominated for an Access Award by the BHS Derbyshire Committee to show appreciation for their time, efforts and achievements.

If you know someone who you think deserves to be recognised with an award, please nominate them.
