Free-to-use driving simulation designed to help you learn how to reverse any kind of towed trailer.
Reverse my trailer is a free-to-use driving simulator computer program designed to help you learn how to reverse-manoeuvre any kind of towed trailer (e.g. horse trailer, caravan, boat trailer, etc). In addition to favourable reviews from the National Trailer and Towing Association (NTTA), the Swift Caravan Group and the Caravan and Motorhome Club, the program has been endorsed by IAM Roadsmart.
The program contains an animated tutorial which explains the principles behind reversing a trailer, and a 3D driver simulator that allows you to practise these principles.
The simulator provides a birds-eye view, along with multiple rear mirror views of the reversing operation. It has an 'autopilot mode' that demonstrates how to reverse into areas such as gateways and parking spaces, and a 'guidance mode' to help you try it for yourself.
There are also two short demonstration videos that can be viewed on YouTube and will hopefully give you a flavour of what the program can do without having to install anything.
Although the simulator could, and should, never take the place of real driving experience under the guidance of a qualified instructor, it is fun to use and above all – is free. All I ask is that you let me know what you think once you’ve tried it.
The program is currently available as a Windows application and an Android app with an iOS app is planned for later this year. For details of how to download and install a copy, or to view demonstration videos (no installation required), please visit www.reversemytrailer.co.uk
