Whatever your views on equine abattoirs, the truth is that horses do still go to slaughter in Britain. No matter what way a horse's life ends, we believe that they should always be treated with respect, and the law states so too.
But covertly filmed footage has previously shown that we can't be completely confident that the law is always being followed. We believe that mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in abattoirs will help us trust that horses are being treated with respect.
If there is nothing to hide, then why not allow CCTV cameras? On Tuesday a Westminster Hall debate, moved by Liz Saville Roberts will cover this issue. Please support us and World Horse Welfare by contacting your MP to ask them to support this debate. We have produced a draft letter that you can send, it will only take a few seconds and can make a huge difference. You can download the letter here.
