Hours: 11.1 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (FTE 0.3)

Salary: £17,190 full time equivalent (minimum hourly rate equivalent)

Location: Greenwich

We are looking for a Yard Assistant to join our equine team at the Royal Borough of Greenwich Equestrian Centre.

The post holder will carry out a range of equine and related duties at the Equine Centre in support of student activities and provide practical supervision and instruction to Hadlow College students following a variety of modes of study and to include students with learning difficulties; undertake training and associated work experience attaining the agreed level of competence and relevant key skills to achieve an appropriate NVQ or BHS qualification.

As part of this role, you are required to be included on the rota for overnight cover.  Accommodation is provided for this purpose and payment for overnight stays is made at £40 per night. On average there will be 8 overnights per month, this may change in line with the needs of the department.

The ideal candidate will have a level 3 or above equine vocational qualification and level 2, or equivalent in maths and English are essential. The ability to communicate effectively is essential for this role along with at least one year’s relevant practical experience within the Equine industry.

In return, we’ll give you 33 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (full time equivalent), and you’ll be enrolled onto the Local Government Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking.
