A practical role incorporating routine equine husbandry and supervision of young people in our equine yard. The Yard Assistant will take responsibility for ensuring a high standard of care and welfare of the equines at school and ensure that students are supported to work to professional standards whilst on the yard.
To take responsibility for the day to day care of the yard and horses in a professional and positive manner reflective of the school’s ethos.
This is a super job in a small team with fabulous colleagues working 8am-5 pm five days a week including one weekend day (some flexibility required) with 6 weeks paid holiday to be taken during school holidays. Competitive rates of pay and good working environment.
We are looking for someone with a minimum BHS Stage 2 Foundation Groom or equivalent, ideally with a Level 3 Diploma in an equine subject and some practical experience of working on a yard. The applicant should have an interest in working with young people with social, emotional and mental health issues and be able to remain calm under pressure. It is important that the applicant has emotional resilience and enthusiasm for improving the lives of young people.
