🐴🌲 BHS North - Kielder Centenary Ride – ROUK 🌲🐴
Celebrate 100 years of Kielder Forest with an unforgettable equestrian adventure, hosted by BHS North in partnership with Forestry England.
Set off from the shores of Kielder Water and enjoy an incredible ride through one of the UK’s most scenic forests. The main route climbs an impressive 345 metres to the England–Scotland border, following well-maintained forestry bridleways along the historic Bloody Bush Road.
⭐ Riders will pause at the iconic Bloody Bush Obelisk – a striking 15-ft stone monument built in 1828, steeped in history and legend – where refreshments will be served.
The return journey takes in the Lewis Burn Bridge, featured in the film 28 Years Later, adding a cinematic touch to this already memorable ride.
🐎 Route Options:
• 25km route – a mainly walk & trot ride to the Scottish border
• 12.5km route – a shorter option (does not reach the border but includes Lewis Burn Bridge)
🌿 Whichever route you choose, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking scenery and a fantastic riding experience.
⚠️ Please note: Some bridleways are stoned forestry tracks – hoof boots are recommended for barefoot horses.
£36 per person, which includes refreshments at the Bloody Bush stone and 1 digital download photograph.
Start times are allocated upon booking, so please make sure you select the time you would like to set off, and if you would like to ride with friends, please ensure you all book the same time slot.
