Do you know an exceptional coach or a hardworking horse who deserves recognition?

The BHS East Coach & Horse of the Year Awards 2026 celebrate the dedicated coaches and remarkable horses working within the British Horse Society East Region, covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

⭐BHS Accredited Professional Coaches (APCs)

For freelance BHS Accredited Professional Coaches who:

  • Live in the county for which they are nominated (although they may work across multiple counties).
  • Are currently registered as BHS Accredited Professional Coaches.
  • Qualified or Trainee Coaches (ACCs) Working in BHS Approved Centres

For coaches working within a BHS Approved Centre who:

  • Work in an Approved Centre in the county for which they are nominated.
  • Hold a minimum qualification of Stage 3 Teach, or Stage 2 Teach if actively training towards Stage 3 Teach.

🐴Horse/Pony Working in a BHS Approved Centre

For horses or ponies that:

  • Are licensed under the centre's riding school licence.
  • Are in the full-time care of the Approved Centre (ownership is not required).

📌Key Dates

  • Nominations close: 11:59pm on Sunday 9 August 2026
  • Public voting: 16 to 23 August 2026
  • Winners announced: On or around 26 August 2026
  • Awards presentation: 4 September 2026 at Burghley International Horse Trials

You may nominate more than one coach or horse.

All nominations will be checked for eligibility. If required, a shortlist of eligible nominees will be selected by a panel of BHS volunteers and the BHS Regional Manager. All shortlisting decisions are final.

Shortlisted nominees will then be put forward to a public vote. You may vote in multiple categories and for more than one nominee, but only one vote per candidate will be accepted. Any duplicate votes identified will be discounted.
