HOLIDAYS WITH HORSES (CHURCH FARM)
A Horses Welcome Establishment
Church Farm is situated in the Forest of Dean, offering hacking directly from the farm. Self catering accommodation in a converted granary offers two apartments, both of which open directly onto the stable yard where stone stables offer high quality accommodation for your horses. There is adequate parking for horseboxes, trailers and cars, and the village of Mitcheldean ¾ mile away provides all the necessary shops.
For the horses
15 x 10ft stone stables with either straw or shavings beds, fully lit and with adequate headroom for the largest horses. Water buckets in holders and feed mangers. Safe paddocks with post and rail fencing, topped by electric tape. All paddocks are adjacent to the stables and accommodation. Mains-fed water troughs. Secured and heated tack room for tack and feed. Large off road area for boxes and trailers and secure parking.
For the people
Each apartment has a bedroom, set either with two 2’6” twin beds or a double, a sitting room, kitchen and bathroom with bath, hand shower, basin and lavatory. A pyu bed is available for an additional person. A welcome pack includes milk, eggs, juice and fruit. Sky tv with DVD player and WiFi . There are folders showing local eating places and places to visit and we will be pleased to advise. The apartments are 3* approved by the English Tourist board.
Riding directly from the farm brings you to the Forest. A total of 10 rides are documented in the folder in the apartments. They vary from 1 hour to 4 hours and take you along all weather forest tracks and through the woods with spectacular views over the river Severn. There are two pubs which offer sustenance along the way. We will gladly ride out with you and show the routes. All the riding is off road and is very quiet and peaceful and great at any time of the year.
Adequate directions are shown on Sat Nav to post code GL17 0DX. We are opposite Abenhall Church and the second entrance is for horseboxes and trailers.
We are situated mid way between Gloucester and Ross on Wye. Take the A40 from Gloucester and then turn left onto the A4136 at Huntley village, signposted Monmouth. As you enter Mitcheldean, 5 miles approx, turn left at the Lamb pub into Abenhall Rd and then ¾ mile later left into Church Lane. We are 200 yards on the right.
