David is a senior Judge on many Showing panels and the current Chair of Judges for the British Show Horse Association, in addition to chairing The Showing Council. As Director of Showing at Hickstead, he oversees the Showing sections at both The Al’Shiraa Derby Meeting and The BHS Royal International Horse Show. David previously enjoyed a successful time as Breeder a Point-to-Point Rider and Trainer and producer of top-class horses for competition. He has consistently championed the Thoroughbred; inspired by the generosity, honesty and kindness of this particular breed he believes the durability, scope and stamina allow the Thoroughbred to be unchallenged when it comes to choice of ride. David takes a positive, quiet approach to training, with patience as the key and with the Rider taking responsibility for success. Now working as a business consultant, coach, mentor and mediator, David credits everything he is to the horse but more especially to the Thoroughbred; “Thoroughbred horses - taught me to listen, feel, think and decide. The Thoroughbred horse saved my life, I owe it everything”.
