Returning from countries no longer on the travel corridor list

12 August 2020

The UK Government has announced that if you are returning from countries that are no longer on the travel corridor list, you will be required to self-isolate on your return to the UK. Full details are available here, including links to Devolved Nations’ guidelines.

The guidance for self-isolation given by the Government means that you should not leave your home for 14 days – full details and any exemptions are available here, including links to Devolved Nations’ guidelines

For horse owners that keep their horses on a shared premises for example livery yards or shared field, this means that you will need to speak with the yard owner and ensure the cover of care you organised for your holiday, will now need to be extended for an additional 14 days while you are in self-isolation. This may incur additional livery charges. To enable compliance with Covid-security requirements on their premises and the Government directive for self-isolation, the yard owner should not allow you to attend the yard. You should not attend the premises at any time during your self-isolation period.

If you keep your horses at home, on your own property and no one else attends the premises during the 14 day isolation period, then you will be able to care for your horses. You must not leave your property e.g. you must not hack out.

If you keep your horses on your own property, but would have to leave home to travel to them, you should also extend the cover arrangements you previously organised, such as a third party to provide continued care for your horses for the additional 14 days. You should not leave your home.
