A bit about me...
"I started rights of way work in 1980 when a group of us set up Forest of Rossendale Bridleways Association. In 1995 I was asked by Mary, Lady Towneley if I was interested in joining two others to help write a Strategy for Bridleways in Lancashire. This involved a full horse count in every parish in Lancashire which 250+ volunteers helped with, and a survey of every bridleway in Lancashire. The results made LCC sit up as there were very few rideable bridleways! At the time of working on the strategy I was asked to fill the role of regional bridleway officer for the NW and have been doing that along with ABO for Rossendale ever since.
I have put in numerous DMMO applications over the years and won them all, which is a great boost to the riding network in Rossendale which back in 1995 had only 25 miles of available riding routes out of 400 miles of rights of way! I have ridden since I was 4 and have owned a horse since my early teens. I don’t own a horse now after losing our last two horses a couple of years ago as I can’t face finding another, so I ride a bike and spend a lot of time with my two border collies who love scent work. To sum up any involvement with horses in 3 words I think they would have to be jolly hard work!"
