About us

Scales Farm Holiday Cottage is located in the Lake District National Park near Ullswater and offers a family run, self-catering cottage. Facilities include adjoining stabling/grazing for you and your horse to enjoy direct access from stable door to open common land to explore miles of safe off-road riding with fantastic views overlooking Ullswater and beyond. Long and short breaks available. Ideal for those non-riders who also like to enjoy the great outdoors, walking and cycling.

Accommodation is £80 per night (min 2 nights), £380 full week for the cottage with 8 sharing (£10 extra per person per night) plus electric/logs and coal used during your stay. The cottage consists of 3 bedrooms (two have 1 double and 1 single, the third room has 1 double) extra camp beds are available if required.

Other rooms include a living room, large kitchen, shower room, bathroom with separate toilet and games room. Dogs welcome. Ideal place to stay over if attending any horse events in the area i.e. Lowther Horse Driving Trials, Newton Rigg, Frenchfield, Dalemain near Penrith are only 20 minutes away, or Warwick Hall, Carlisle are 60 minutes away and even further afield to break the long journey. We are only 20 minutes away from M6 J39/40/A66.

Easy access onto the Roman Road/Highstreet/Haweswater or across to Pooleybridge and Askham to the local village pub/shop and the Lowther valley if you want to incorporate food/drink while out riding.
