Fort Widley Equestrian Centre

About us

Fort Widley Equestrian Centre is based in a Victorian Fort on the south coast, just north of Portsmouth and is a registered charity providing and enabling a wide range of riding lessons for children and adults.

The centre accommodates riders of all ages starting with Tiny tots sessions from the age of 2years.

Each rider is matched to one of our well behaved school horses and instructed by one of our friendly BHS qualified staff.

We offer a mixture of private, semi private and group lessons depending on the individual.

Fort Widley is affiliated with the RDA, where we undertake lessons and walkouts for a variety of disabilities, tailoring each sessions to meet the individual need and ambition.

The Centre has an active Pony Club where fortnightly sessions are attended with additional badge days and events during the holidays.

Tucked away in one of our barrack rooms we have our 2 very special mechanical horses. They are invaluable to us and allow us to allow riders to practise position, give reassurance when mounting if unsure initially.
