About me

I have been BHS A.I.qualified since 1991. I also have a B.Ed (in a teaching degree) and a Masters' Degree (M.Phil) in Equine Science.

I am a very patient and mature trainer/coach as well as being a competitor myself. Over the years I have competed in all the main disciplines and now enjoy competing to BD medium level (currently) and in TREC and Working Equitation.

I am based in Devon (EX19 8QU) but am also willing to travel further afield.

I teach all levels and ages in the majority of riding disciplines. However my specialism is coaching riders who need confidence building/nervous and novice riders and/or riders returning to riding after a break (maybe after having children, an injury or career) or new to owning/loaning a horse. I also coach Riding Club and Pony members and work with clients from many walks of life. I strive to create calm and supportive teaching environments with positive energy to help riders enjoy their sessions and work productively towards their goals .

I coach one-to-one sessions as well as shared sessions and groups and many clinics throughout the Southwest and am available to coach and support riders/grooms on the BHS career pathways.

As well as being experienced in the main disciplines, I specialise in two other riding sports - TREC (see https://trecgb.com/ for more details) and Working Equitation (see http://www.workingequitation-gb.com/ for more details). I am a many times British and National TREC Champion, TREC Trainer and Judge. I am also a Working Equitation Trainer. I hold TREC and Working Equitation clinics regularly in Devon and Cornwall and am available to travel further afield if individuals/organisations (eg Riding Clubs, Pony Clubs, RDA etc) wish to host a TREC and/or Working Equitation day (my taster days are very popular).

Each summer I run a series of very well attended "Confidence Building Clinics" at Poltimore Park XC course near Exeter in Devon as well as at other venues.

I am very open minded and am aware of our ever changing society and strongly believe in maximising CPD (continuous professional development) opportunities. I am currently undertaking B.D. Judge training and exams.
