About Me

Whether you’re a weekend rider preparing to ride your first dressage test or have ambitions to ride at Badminton, Jon works with the natural instincts of the horse, resolving issues through persuasion and co-operation. Improvement in the physical performance is then simply a natural follow-on.

He is well known for his ability to help riders develop greater self-belief in their riding, closer communication and deeper understanding with their horses. His empathic style focuses on the psychology of the horse, removing many of the obstacles to harmonious progress and mutual enjoyment.

Jon has evented Internationally for many years, including riding at Badminton and Burghley, and has worked extensively with some of the world’s leading trainers, including 5 years spent with Capt Mark Phillips, and with Ferdi Eilberg. However, much of his work is with every-day riders and he has vast experience of working with “problem” and young horses.

A BHSI, BE Coach, Centre10 Elite Coach, and with an Honours Degree in Equine Sports Science, Jon is also highly qualified. Nominated by his clients, he was the BHS Freelance Coach of the Year in 2018, for the coach who made the greatest difference to their students and the field of equestrian training.
