How your legacy gift will help

When war threatened our shores, horses stood by us with unwavering loyalty. They toiled, fought and fell on the beaches and the battlefields just as we did. They are our courageous, constant companions.

Horses built the world we know today. They ploughed our fields and erected our cities. They shaped our past and forged our future. For this, we owe them an eternal debt.

You can honour their sacrifice and help repay the debt we owe when you leave a gift in your Will.

For many of us, the first time we sat on a horse was the moment our lives changed forever. From learning to rise to the trot to galloping through the woods, the experience of learning to ride and care for horses is one we will never forget.

That is why we are determined to be there for every new generation of horse rider, groom, carriage driver and coach.

When you leave a gift in your Will, we will make sure future generations will continue to learn to ride and understand how to care for horses. Through our world-class education system we help create a future where every horse gets the respect and life they deserve.

We strongly believe that every rider and every horses should be able to explore our countryside, just as they have done for generations. That is why we are committed to identifying thousands of riding routes that are at risk of closure, so we can campaign to save them – and keep our countryside open.

We also need to keep horses and riders safe on our busy roads. Our ‘Dead or Dead Slow?’ campaign was recognised in Parliament as a “formidable campaigning engine”. With your support, it can continue to make a world of difference.

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help campaign for horse riders’ rights and ensure, long into the future, Britain will continue to be a nation that welcomes and celebrates this  way of life which means so much to us all.

The relationship between horse and rider goes far beyond saddles and stirrups. Horses give us so much more. They inspire us to be the best we can be.

We work to ensure people from all backgrounds can benefit from a life with horses. Our Changing Lives through Horses programme introduces children and young people who are out of work or education to horses. By giving them the opportunity to ride and care for horses, we can help reignite their desire to learn and teach them skills that will stay with them for their whole lives.

A gift in your Will can help more people in our society benefit from the transformative power of spending time with horses.

From young foal to old friend, one horse can live many different lives with different owners. But for every life a horse lives, they have one constant – us.

It is heartbreaking to think of any horse suffering, especially when they give us so much. But sadly, this is the reality for many horses across the UK. That is why we have made it our mission to make sure no horse is forgotten.

Our Welfare Advisers support owners and work tirelessly to prevent the neglect and abuse of horses. Our mobile clinics offer subsidised equine health services for horses who may not have regular access to healthcare. From worming, foot care and dental checks, to passporting, castration and micro-chipping, these clinics are vital to protecting the welfare of Britain’s horses.
