Whether your client is an Olympian or a weekend rider, they are all equestrian athletes and the exercises / movements they do out of the saddle have a direct impact on their efficiency and ability in the saddle.
In this workshop Julie draws on her knowledge of working with riders of all levels from the complete beginner to the elite equestrian athlete. We will look at simple rider biomechanics and movements to help you begin to spot imbalances in your clients bodies as they ride, and also how to begin to correct what you are seeing. We’ll cover common rider position faults as well as exercises that can help bring symmetry into the riders body, their movements and how well they ride on each rein.
Pilates is the perfect complementary discipline for the equestrian. It is an accumulative discipline that when practised regularly will make a difference to their understanding of how they move, their posture, alignment and balance. This workshop will help you look at your client with fresh eyes and help you recognise asymmetries happening in your client as they ride. It will give you ideas and tools to help them improve their riding, balance and confidence.
This is a highly interactive webinar. Participants will be asked to join in with movements and exercises to help develop their understanding of the basic biomechanics being taught. The session will incorporate exercises in standing and lying down on the Floor so to help you get the most out of the session you will need room to move. We will be using small props so please can you have:
• A small ball eg: Tennis ball, golf ball, children’s rubber ball.
• A lead rope or bath towel
• A cushion.
• A thick elastic band ( Like the bands around a head of broccoli!)
• If possible a mat to lie on.
