If you are considering a future working with horses or perhaps you have already commenced the Equine Pathway of BHS Assessments and would like to experience an ‘informal’ taster day of BHS stable management assessments with direct access to BHS Instructors and Assessors to help and guide you through then we’re sure you will find this day extremely helpful.
Please bring your own lunch and wear suitable clothing for working around horses, including your hat, gloves and suitable footwear.
Stage 1 - Tacking up including martingale, grooming - reasons for, points of horse and colours, rules of feeding, mucking out and various types of bedding, rugs - types and fitting, turning out and responsibility of working on a yard
Stage 2 - Fitting tack, including a breast girth, preparation for travel, feeding, worming, horse health, condition, digestion, skeletal frame
Stage 3 - Fitting tack including double bridle, exercise bandages, studs, feeding, fitness, systems, health, confirmation, managing turn out, behaviour
Lunge Section
Stage 2 - Effective and safe handling of the equipment, a clear understanding of why we lunge, lunge for exercise
Stage 3 - Effective and safe handling of the equipment, reasons for lunging, lunge a fit horse to maintain its training, walk, trot and canter
