Due to the current crisis with Coronavirus (Covid-19) we have cancelled/postponed all of our calendar of events and gatherings until the end of June 2020.
Our regional teams and committees are in the process of advising everyone who has booked or indicated an interest of the cancellation.
Side saddle riding may be traditional, but it is not old-fashioned! Why not Have a Go?
If you have been thinking about trying it for the first time, or if you are considering picking it up again after a break, or even if you are wondering if this could be how you arrive at the church on your wedding day – here’s your chance!
This session will be on a mechanical horse simulator in an indoor classroom environment - so no waterproofs required!
The sessions will be delivered in groups of four and will last around 75 minutes. Riders will be shown the saddle, how it fits, how you mount and how you should sit in the saddle, before being tutored by BHS and Side Saddle Association instructor and well accredited judge Valerie Hodgett, for 15 minutes in walk, trot and canter on the extremely well behaved mechanical horse, Troy!
During the session, there will be plenty of opportunities to have all your side saddle questions answered.
Cost: £15 per rider.
Time: 10am - 5.30pm
Please note that riders must not exceed 13st as this is the safety limit of the mechanical horse.
Suitable footwear should be worn. Please avoid buckles or side zips as these can damage the saddle. Riding boots are strongly recommended.
When booking please ensure that you include your height. The instructor will be bringing a selection of saddles to fit riders with different lengths of leg. By grouping similar sized riders together, the same saddle can be used throughout the session.
Riding Hats must be worn.
Bookings close: 18th March 2020
