BHS Laminitis Awareness and Leg Dissection

19 Mar 2020

What is laminitis? Ever wanted to know the causes and symptoms of the disease? Come along to an informative evening with local farrier, Michael Girling, DipWCF. Michael is a former Internationally competing farrier, with a keen interest in equine anatomy and physiology, offering an honest, modern take on traditional farriery. He has spent time working with the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust, and regularly takes trips to Africa to offer training and remedial farrier to both shod and barefoot equines.

Back in the UK, Michael regularly provides support to owners of laminitic ponies and horses and has a detailed understanding of the conditions and how vet and farrier can work together to improve welfare.

As part of the evening Michael will be presenting a dissection of a horse's lower leg and discussing the impacts of laminitis on the internal structures of the lower leg and foot.

Join us to find out how corrective shoeing and changes of husbandry helps support recovery and learn to spot the early signs of disease.

Time: 6pm – 9pm

Cost: £10 per person
