Mary Wanless is the founder of Ride With Your Mind, an approach to riding that explores the biomechanics of riding and presents them in distinct, learnable pieces that truly help riders develop talent. There is a gap to bridge between the coach and the pupil's riding skill, but the key to successful coaching lies in being able to deliver the skills in easy 'bite size chunks' for the pupil. When the coach says 'Do X' she is assuming that the pupil can do 'A,B,C,D,' etc. just as she can do without even thinking about it (perhaps even without realising she is doing it) but that may not be the case. By dissecting the biomechanics of riding, Mary is able to teach each tiny component skill and create a talented rider.
This training day (which counts as CPD for BHS Accredited Professional Coaches) will look at:
- Language and learning theory
- Changing habits
- Accessing core strength
- Breaking talent down in to its component parts - making it learnable!
There will be both lecture and demonstration sessions, utilizing guinea pig horses and riders.
The day will be run in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time, with numbers restricted and with social distancing protocols in place as necessary. Attendees may be required to wear a mask at times. Refreshments may not be available - please come suitably prepared, but we are hoping the onsite café will be open to purchase food and drink at lunchtime.
Time: 09.30 - 16.00
